Early on Sunday morning, the wanted hunter Lena Jansson was out to track down a traffic-damaged deer on road 908 north of Ingmår.

She is a county manager hunter and often tracks traffic-damaged game.

Already this year, she has been called out to track on about 20 occasions.

- The animals move more when it is cold and when the snow plow edges become high, they do not take over and instead walk on the road, she explains.

Some places are worse than others, she says.

- Road 26 around Kristinehamn is terrible and all the way along the 45 you should be careful, she says.

At the same time, she appeals to motorists to slow down and look out at roadsides to make it easier to spot wildlife moving there.

Special requirements for wanted hunters

Lena Jansson is one of almost 300 wanted hunters in Värmland.

Being a wanted hunter on traffic-damaged game is a voluntary commitment, but it requires a lot from the hunter and the hunter's dog.

There are special requirements for competence, he must not appear in the police register, must have a good judgment to be a good shooter, says Lena Jansson.
