Berlin (dpa / bb) - An employee of a Berlin waste disposal company is said to have deliberately set fire to a company building in Lichterfelde.

The 39-year-old suspect rioted on Sunday morning at around 4 a.m. and injured a 41-year-old colleague with a knife on the hand, according to his statement, as the police announced on Sunday.

Subsequently, he is said to have threatened to start a fire in the room.

A notified superior noticed smoke in the basement of the building in the Lichterfelder Ring, it was said.

Alarmed firefighters extinguished the set on fire without causing any major damage.

According to the information, the suspect had cuts on his arms and suffered smoke inhalation.

After hospital treatment and a blood sample, he was charged with attempted arson and dangerous bodily harm.
