Indian authorities fear victims after the rupture on Sunday (February 7) of part of a glacier in the Himalayas which caused flooding in the north of the country.

There could be 100 to 150 dead in Chamoli district, Uttarakhand state.

In images broadcast by local television channels and Reuters partner ANI agency, the Alaknanda River, fed by this glacier, can be seen emerging from its bed and its waters carrying everything in their path, including part of a blocade.
