Berlin / Wiesbaden (dpa / lhe) - 792 new corona infections were registered in Hesse within one day.
This increased the total number of infections reported so far to 176,931, as shown by data from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) in Berlin for Sunday (as of 0.00 a.m.).
The number of deaths associated with the virus rose by 17 to 5165. The so-called incidence, the infections within seven days per 100,000 inhabitants, continued to decline slightly and was 80.7 throughout Hesse.
According to the intensive care registry of the German Interdisciplinary Association for Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine (Divi), 383 Covid-19 patients were treated in Hesse on Sunday (as of 12.15 p.m.).
192 of the intensive care patients were ventilated.
Throughout Hessen - also with patients with other diseases - 1798 of 2093 intensive care beds were occupied.
14 percent of the intensive care beds were still free.

Hesse's vaccination rate is below the national average: According to the Robert Koch Institute, 2.4 percent of the population had been vaccinated by Friday evening.
The national average is slightly higher at 2.7 percent.
