There will be 72 basic health areas and 29 municipalities that the Community of Madrid will have closed perimeter from next Monday due to the high incidence of coronavirus in the region.

The Ministry of Health announced yesterday restrictions in three new basic health areas and three municipalities in the region and the opening of two areas -Baviera, in the Madrid district of Salamanca, and Torrelodones- and five towns until now confined -Cadalso de los Vidrios , Collado Mediano, Villar

ejo de Salvanés, Velilla de San Antonio and Titulcia - who will continue one more week under the restrictions will be the basic areas of

General Moscardó (Tetouan)

Y

Andrés Mellado (Chamberí)

, in Madrid capital, and

The morale

, in Alcobendas.

None of the three falls below 1,000 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, higher figures than when they were confined, and

they still do not know 2021 without restrictions

.

More than two months under a closure that in the case of La Moraleja has become a perimeter closure of the entire municipality to which it belongs. Starting this Monday, the two health areas that make up Colmenar Viejo will be added to those same mobility restrictions -

Colmenar Viejo Norte and Colmenar Viejo Sur

-;

that of

Uncle Raimundo's Well

, in Puente de Vallecas, and the municipalities of

Camarma de Esteruelas, Villaconejos and Estremera

Despite these new confinements, the Deputy Minister of Public Health, Antonio Zapatero, and the General Director of Public Health, Elena Andradas, said yesterday that the Community of Madrid is

in "a change in trend" with "a decrease in the number of cases"

and is immersed in "a progressive decline" of infections for the first time in 2021. Those responsible for the Covid Strategy in the region warned even so that the incidence continues to be "high" and the level of transmission "high" despite to "positive" data such as that the Community of Madrid registers 16% fewer infections this week than last and

cumulative incidence has been reduced from 994 to 880 points

Limits that greatly triple the extreme risk of transmission set by the European Union in 250 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

For this reason, Madrid will maintain the closure in 72 basic areas and 29 municipalities.

In Madrid capital, the restrictions in Barajas will remain like this for another week;

Andrés Mellado, in Chamberí;

Aravaca, in Moncloa-Aravaca;

General Moscardó, in Tetouan;

Sanchinarro, Virgen del Cortijo y Silvano, in Hortaleza;

Mirasierra, in Fuencarral-El Pardo;

Jazmín, in Ciudad Lineal;

Montesa and General Oráa, in Salamanca, and Alpes y Rejas, in San Blas-Canillejas. Deputy Minister Zapatero also indicated at a press conference that the British strain of Covid already accounts for 20% of cases in some hospitals in the region such as the Gregorio Marañón or the Jiménez Días Foundation.

A percentage that

exceeds the 22% threshold in La Paz or Mósteles

and 50% in the cases registered in the Collado-Villalba and Moralzarzal health centers. The person in charge of the Covid Strategy also revealed that

Madrid has 4,817 admitted to hospitals -427 in ICU-

and that the Hospital Sick Isabel Zendal accumulates since its inauguration, last December, 1,700 patients attended and 1,000 discharges while recalling that this week this center has reached 140 beds for critical and semi-critical patients, triple the number when it began to operate "thanks to its flexibility".

«The value of this hospital is essential for the Community of Madird, all the communities want to have a center with this capacity.

(...) We are probably talking about the largest unit to attend to critics in Spain, "he concluded. Later, the Ministry of Health confirmed that the first case of a Brazilian variant of Covid-19 had been detected:

a 44-year-old man from Brazil who entered Spain

on January 29 through the Adolfo Suárez-Madrid Barajas airport.

The traveler landed with a negative PCR test at origin, but upon arrival at the Madrid airport an antigen test was performed with a positive result in a Foreign Health check.

Later, he was transferred to the Gregorio Marañón General University Hospital, where he underwent a PCR that gave a positive result. The Council of Ministers approved last Tuesday to increase restrictions on entry into Spain by air from Brazil and South Africa due to the variants detected.
