"The United States suspended action and began the process of terminating the asylum cooperation agreement with El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras," the US State Department website quoted Blinken as saying.
It is noted that these are the first steps towards broader cooperation in the region.
The Secretary of State clarified that these actions do not mean that the US border is closed.
Earlier, Anthony Blinken held telephone talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia, Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.
