Berlin (dpa / bb) - In Berlin, the number of new corona infections continues to fall.

222 new cases were registered within one day, as the health administration announced in its current status report on Saturday.

The day before there were 352 new cases.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 122,447 cases have been registered in the Berlin statistics, of which 110,882 people are considered recovered.

2,466 people have died so far in connection with the virus.

Most of the deaths (1,064) were in the age group between 80 and 89 years.

On Saturday, 13 new deaths were reported from the previous day.

On weekends, however, it must be assumed that the figures are not always complete because cases are not reported.

The statistics from Saturday show no new infections in three districts.

The number of infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week continued to decrease according to the information on Saturday - from 74.4 on Friday to 70.1.

The corona traffic light is still red. From a value of 30 it would jump to yellow, from a seven-day incidence from 20 to green.

According to the management report, 25.7 percent of Berlin's intensive care beds are currently occupied by Covid 19 patients.
