Recently, the Spanish Overseas Chinese Community 2021 New Year of the Ox New Year Group Meeting hosted by the Spanish Overseas Chinese Association was held online. Nearly 200 representatives of the overseas Chinese delegation in West China were invited to participate.
In his speech, the Chinese Ambassador to Spain Wu Haitao affirmed the deeds of the overseas Chinese in the West in supporting their hometowns, giving back to the local area, and assisting overseas Chinese in need at the critical moment of the fight against the epidemic in China and the West. At the same time, he also praised the work done by the Chinese Embassy in Spain to guard the overseas Chinese and students studying in the West. A brief overview was given.
Wu Haitao said that 2021 is a year of historic significance in the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
This year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and also the first year of the "14th Five-Year Plan".
China will embark on a new journey of building a modern socialist country in an all-round way and make strides towards the second centenary goal.
He hoped that the vast number of overseas Chinese can make use of the advantages of integrating China and foreign countries and connecting China and the West, and become participants and beneficiaries in promoting China's development and construction and Sino-Western friendship.
He also urged that the epidemic situation is severe and complicated, and everyone still needs to take effective protection.
The overseas Chinese community must strengthen their confidence, keep warm together, and help each other; overseas Chinese leaders must do more practical and good deeds for overseas Chinese to help them solve problems; personnel in various industries must innovate, turn crises into opportunities, and actively seek change.
He said that the Chinese Embassy in Spain will continue to adhere to "diplomacy for the people" and spare no effort to protect the health and safety of the overseas Chinese in Spain.
In his speech, Chen Jianxin, chairman of the Spanish Association of Overseas Chinese, reviewed the implementation of the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind in the anti-epidemic cooperation by overseas Chinese in Spain in 2020.
He believes that in the new year, the overseas Chinese community in the West will continue to play a role in serving the overseas Chinese in epidemic prevention, career development, and integration into the local area, and make further contributions to the promotion of Sino-Western cultural and economic exchanges.
The group visit also played a short film of the overseas Chinese living in the West working hard to fight the new crown pneumonia epidemic and a video of greeting the Chinese New Year by the overseas Chinese and Spanish friends in the West.
