It was radiant sun and a little spring feeling when the first trees landed in Färjenäsparken in Gothenburg last week.

Some have stood at the Court of Appeal, some at Korsvägen and they had to move when the work with Västlänken began.

The rails were large when the trees were to be moved out of the city three years ago.

The move was made and they ended up in Tollered, west of Gothenburg for a few years.

They seem to have felt good.

- In total, we have moved 327 trees that have been affected by Västlänken's work at Centralen, Kvarnberget, Haga and Korsvägen.

Of these, 200 have lived at the nursery in Tollered since the move.

The trees have felt good and have received continuous care and inspection.

They have grown more than expected, says Örjan Stål, landscape engineer specializing in soil and tree issues.

A lift for the park

The park is far from complete.

But in the future there will be linden, oak, oxel, horse chestnut, cherry and ash.

And in addition, a ground elevation will be made, so Färjenäsparken will really get a completely new look.

Do you not usually plant trees in the spring and summer?

Now it's winter, isn't it?

- Yeah absolutely!

says Mira Ovuka Andersson, environmental manager at Västlänken.

- But it is possible to move trees all year round, if you just prepare well and also lay straw on top of the roots so that they do not freeze.

And we will take care of the trees now even after the move until 2025 to ensure that they survive.
