Chernov was relieved of his post as head of the department for cultural relations with foreign countries

As reported on the Kremlin website, the corresponding decree was signed by Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

"To release Vladimir Alexandrovich Chernov from the post of head of the Office of the President of the Russian Federation for interregional and cultural relations with foreign countries," the decree says.

In January, it was reported that Putin dismissed Alexander Darchiev from the post of Russian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Canada.
