Klingenthal (dpa) - The German Nordic combined athletes can hope for their first individual victory in 2021 thanks to strong jumps and the break from competitions by Norway's Jarl Magnus Riiber.

After an attempt on the large hill in Klingenthal, some Germans are in good position on Saturday.

Terence Weber (32 seconds behind) goes into the ten-kilometer run (10.55 a.m. / ZDF and Eurosport) in Vogtland as second, as do the four strong Olympic champions Fabian Rießle (6th), Johannes Rydzek (9th), Eric Frenzel ( 13th) and Vinzenz Geiger (14th) are doing well.

The best jump was made by the Japanese Ryota Yamamoto.

Yellow bearer Riiber is taking a break this weekend in order to optimally prepare for the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oberstdorf (from February 23).

He posted a video on his Instagram channel of training on a treadmill in Lillehammer.

The 23-year-old Norwegian is also the outstanding combiner this season, he won seven individual competitions.
