The spring climate that has characterized the weather in Italy in recent days is rapidly turning towards bad with rains and thunderstorms, snow on the Alpine sectors and strong winds.



A

perturbation of Atlantic origin

 will in fact begin to affect the north-western Italian regions from the evening of Saturday 6 February with rains and thunderstorms extending from the night to the whole North and, on Sunday 7 February, also to the Center-South.

Snowfalls are expected on the Alpine sectors and strong winds from the southern quadrants across the country



Based on the available forecasts, the Department of Civil Protection, in agreement with the regions involved - which are responsible for activating the civil protection systems in the territories concerned - issued a warning of adverse weather conditions.

Yellow alert

issued for Sunday

in Piedmont, Lombardy, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany, Marche, Umbria, Lazio, Abruzzo, Molise, Campania, Basilicata, Calabria, Puglia and Sicily while the warning of adverse weather conditions foresees from the evening on Saturday, scattered to widespread rainfall, including backfalls or thunderstorms, over eastern Piedmont and central-western Lombardy, extending to Friuli Venezia Giulia.

Snowfall

is expected from the evening on the alpine sectors of northern Piedmont, Lombardy and Friuli Venezia Giulia, with snow altitude initially above 1200-1400 meters, down to 800-1000 meters, especially in the western alpine sectors, with contributions to the ground moderate to locally abundant.

From the early hours of Sunday, the warning also provides for

scattered rainfall

, also of a reverse or thunderstorm character, on northern Tuscany, the Emilian Apennines, Umbria, eastern and southern Lazio, Campania and western sectors of Abruzzo and Molise, in extension from the afternoon to Basilicata Tyrrhenian and Central-Western Sicily.

The phenomena will be accompanied by strong showers, frequent electrical activity and strong gusts of wind.



Finally, the warning provides, from the early hours of Sunday, 

from strong to stormy winds

from the southern quadrants with gusts to strong storms, on Puglia and inland and mountainous sectors of Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany, Marche, Umbria, Lazio, Abruzzo, Molise and Sicily, especially in the northern sectors.
