Leipzig (dpa / sa) - The weekend brings increasingly snow and low temperatures to Saxony-Anhalt.

"From Sunday it will be chaotic with a lot of snow and snow drifts," said a spokesman for the German Weather Service (DWD) on Friday.

Friday in Saxony-Anhalt starts with lows of up to 4 degrees and some rain.

In the north of Saxony-Anhalt, wet snowfall could lead to slippery roads.

During the night the temperatures drop into the frost zone and there can be up to 3 centimeters of fresh snow.

According to the information, Saturday remains largely dry.

The sun could briefly appear in the Altmark.

The night on Sunday gets cold down to minus 8 degrees and brings up to 20 centimeters of fresh snow in large parts of Saxony-Anhalt, especially in the eastern Harz.

Due to the cold, the powder snow is slightly blown away.

An increasing easterly wind could therefore lead to strong snow drifts.

Sunday remains similarly cold with temperatures down to minus 8 degrees.

It also snows all day.

South of the Altmark, up to 15 centimeters of powder snow and heavy snowdrifts can be expected again.

For the new week the snowfall subsides a little.

It was said to be generally wintry with permafrost temperatures.
