Potsdam (dpa / bb) - Because of the tense situation in the corona pandemic, the Brandenburg tourism industry is demanding more financial support from the state.

"With small sums you can achieve a lot in tourism," said Markus Aspetzberger, managing director of the Brandenburg State Tourism Association, on Friday of the German Press Agency.

Now is the time to set up a tourism fund or a funding program for innovation and reconstruction.

Many companies learned to think creatively during the crisis and should continue to be supported in this.

This has resulted in numerous ideas for mobile offers.

Aspetzberger was convinced that with funding, companies could broaden their offerings and bring them to where there were no offers after the crisis.

The head of the Brandenburg tourism association painted a gloomy picture for the industry.

Almost every fifth company in the hospitality industry is threatened with permanent closure.

The first accommodations would be converted into rental apartments, and more and more workers were turning their backs on the industry.

"We will have white spots," said Aspetzberger with a view to the time after the corona pandemic.

There was a threat of business shutdowns and fewer start-ups.

The number of training contracts is decreasing.

"Future signals for the industry can not only come from the federal government", added Olaf Lücke, General Manager of the Hotel and Restaurant Association (Dehoga).

Framework conditions and incentives must now be created to enable investments on a smaller scale and start-ups.
