Erfurt (dpa / th) - Eisenach is the first city in Thuringia for a long time in which the so-called seven-day incidence has fallen below 50.

On Friday, the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within the past seven days in the Wartburg city was around 47. This emerges from information from the State Chancellery with reference to data from the Robert Koch Institute on Friday.

However, it can be assumed that the numbers for Eisenach will increase through late registrations, it said.

The incidence value of 50 is significant because, for regions below the value, relaxation of certain measures to contain the pandemic can be discussed.

According to the information, the number of new infections has decreased across the country, but it remains by far the federal state most affected by the corona pandemic.

The seven-day incidence was most recently around 146. Only Saxony-Anhalt (119), Saarland (117) and Saxony (101) also had incidences of more than 100 throughout Germany. The value was 80 across Germany.

24 hours earlier it was 765. The number of known deaths in connection with a Sars-CoV-2 infection rose by 36 to 2323. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 67,728 people in the Free State have demonstrably been infected with the corona virus.

The districts of Schmalkalden-Meiningen (around 252), Eichsfeld (238) and Hildburghausen (around 234) had particularly high seven-day incidences.

But the Altenburger Land (around 210) and the Saale-Orla district (209) were also badly affected.

According to the Ministry of Health on Friday, 62 457 people in the state were vaccinated against the virus;

18,279 had already received a second vaccination.
