China News Service, February 5th. According to Peru's "Communiqué", the number of confirmed cases of the new crown in Peru has increased rapidly recently.

Peruvian Minister of Health Masetti confirmed on the 4th that cases of the mutant virus found in Brazil have been detected in Lima and other places.

On the other hand, experts warn that the condition of patients recovering from the new crown may be more serious when they are infected again.

On November 2, 2020 local time, the well-known site Machu Picchu in Cusco, Peru ushered in the second day of restart.

According to reports, the Peruvian Minister of Health Massetti confirmed when attending a plenary session of the Congress on the 4th that the mutated strains reported by Brazil had been detected in Lima and other places. Earlier, the country had confirmed the existence of the mutated strains reported by the United Kingdom.

Masetti said that because the mutant strain is more infectious and aggressive, this also explains the surge in confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia in Peru.

As of now, 94.67% of Peru's intensive care unit beds have been occupied.

Peruvian social security agency EsSalud also warned a few days ago that patients who have recovered from the new coronary pneumonia may become more severely ill when they become infected again.

Medical experts explained that the duration of antibodies produced by patients after the first infection with the virus is uncertain, because some people have mild symptoms and produce short-term antibodies.

In addition, "the first infection will leave sequelae in the lungs, depending on the severity of the condition, while the second infection may attack the previously damaged lungs more severely."

On the other hand, Peruvian President Francisco Sagasti announced on the 4th that the government has reached an agreement with Pfizer Laboratories to purchase 20 million doses of the new crown vaccine. Among them, 250,000 doses and 300,000 doses will be received in March and April respectively. Doses of vaccine, 5 million doses of vaccine will be received by June.

Sagasti called on the Peruvian people not to relax their vigilance and abide by the epidemic prevention and control measures, and believe that the government is making every effort to fulfill its commitment to take care of everyone's health and work together to overcome this huge challenge.
