Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - Only three urban and rural districts in Baden-Württemberg are above an incidence of 100 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within one week.

According to the State Health Office on Friday (as of 4:00 p.m.), these are the city of Heilbronn with a value of 130.3, the Ortenau district with 115.8 and the district of Waldshut with 109.9.

The districts of Calw and Tuttlingen slipped below the 100 mark.

Nationwide, the so-called seven-day incidence fell to 61.5 from 63.5 on Thursday.

The number of confirmed infections since the beginning of the pandemic rose by 1116 to 299 001, as the authority in Stuttgart announced.

The number of deaths related to the coronavirus increased by 61 to 7381. 268 256 people are considered recovered, 3810 more than the previous day.

The information on those who have recovered are estimates.

Almost a quarter of those infected are older than 60 years.

The proportion of children and adolescents up to 19 years of age is 12 percent.

According to the announcement, 746 cases with virus mutations have so far been transmitted to the office.

With the seven-day incidences, 14 urban and rural districts in the southwest are now below the value of 50, from which the health authorities can, according to the information, track contacts with infected people again.

The brand - based on the national average - is an important argument in the debate about loosening lockdowns.

The rate of new infections is lowest in the district of Emmendingen.

In the past seven days, only 22.2 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants were registered here.

According to the intensive care register of the German Interdisciplinary Association for Intensive and Emergency Medicine (Divi), 349 corona patients in Baden-Württemberg were in intensive care units, 216 of them artificially ventilated.

Almost 88 percent of the 2,449 operable intensive care beds are occupied, it said.

260,936 people in the southwest received their first vaccination against the coronavirus.

89,291 people have been vaccinated for the second time (as of Friday, 0.15 a.m.).

That was 6024 (first vaccination) and 6803 (second vaccination) more than the day before.

Because there is currently a lack of vaccine, fewer people are being vaccinated.
