Munich (dpa) - National team captain Manuel Neuer says he doesn't waste much thought on his career after his career.

When asked about a statement by Uli Hoeneß that players like Neuer or Thomas Müller should continue to play an important role at FC Bayern Munich after their professional career, the 34-year-old world goalkeeper held back.

“Uli Hoeneß already said that when I was with FC Bayern for just two years.

I am very happy when personalities like Hoeneß and Rummenigge trust me in such a role, ”said Neuer in the members' magazine“ 51 ”.

“But first I want to be active on the pitch for a while.

I still have a lot of goals and am extremely motivated.

We can discuss what comes next, ”said Neuer.

The former Schalke player has been playing for the German record champions since 2011, and his contract runs until 2023.

Most recently, Müller was also asked about his future.

«As a professional, I have certainly seen more of the coaching job than of the work at my desk over the past 13 years.

But I still have no idea how I want to shape my future - how close or far I want to be to football.

Everything is open, ”said the 31-year-old in“ Kicker ”.

Müller has been playing for Bayern for over two decades, and his contract will also expire on June 30, 2023.
