Berlin / Schwerin (dpa / mv) - The first delivery of the corona vaccine from Astrazeneca is also expected in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania at the weekend.

According to the Federal Ministry of Health, the Northeast will initially receive 7,200 vaccine doses from the British-Swedish manufacturer.

A further 7,200 vaccine doses are to be delivered on February 12, 19,200 on February 19 and 28,800 on March 2.

After the preparations from Biontech / Pfizer and Moderna, the vaccine will be the third that is available in Germany.

However, the Standing Vaccination Commission only recommended it for people under 65.

Therefore, this vaccine should initially be given primarily to nursing staff, medical hospital staff and employees in vaccination centers.

Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) has called on the federal states to inject the first doses without making provisions for the second dose.

The next delivery from Biontech / Pfizer is expected to be on Monday / Tuesday in MV.

The delivery of 11,700 vaccine doses is planned.

The next Moderna delivery is scheduled for the end of the week with 3,600 vaccine doses.

This will bring 22,500 doses of vaccine into the country by the end of next week.
