The two lawyers, who work at the same firm, have in recent years represented several serious criminals in extensive criminal cases.

They have often been hired by people from the so-called Vårbynätverket, where several leaders are now in custody on suspicion of serious crimes such as stamping out murders, serious weapons and drug crimes, and kidnapping.

One of the lawyers applied last week to represent one of the suspects.

The district court first approved the change, but on February 1, prosecutor Anna Stråth pulled the handbrake and demanded that he resign from his assignment.

He is suspected of having leaked secret police information to his client, something Expressen was the first to report on.

The lawyer, who denies the accusations, was reported at the same time to the Chancellor of Justice and to the Swedish Bar Association.

Evidence in encrypted chats

The information must have been shared via the encrypted chat function Encrochat, which is used almost exclusively by criminals.

Last summer, the service was cracked by French police and the evidence from the chats has since led to many arrests and prosecutions.

Chief Prosecutor Stefan Bergman at Södertörn District Court, who reported the lawyer, does not want to go into what information has been leaked, but confirms that the lawyers appear in the current preliminary investigation against the Vårbyn network.

- I think there is reason to assume that what they have done is criminal and therefore I want to test it, says Stefan Bergman.

May more information emerge

However, the Chancellor of Justice immediately closed the investigation and writes that JK only investigates whether the lawyer has violated his duty of confidentiality by communicating information to the mass media.

Instead, the ball is now in the court of the Bar Association, which has begun a disciplinary case against the two lawyers.

But Stefan Bergman thinks it could end up with JK again.

- Information may emerge from the Bar Association's investigation which means that it ends up with JK again.

More may also come to light during the trial.

Let it be said that there will be a very clear and powerful statement that will be of great importance to those concerned, then it is clear that it can receive a new assessment.

This week's crime has sought the lawyer who has been fired.
