Berlin / Cologne (dpa) - The airline Eurowings and Verdi have agreed on conditions under which flight attendants from other group companies can switch to the Lufthansa subsidiary.

As a first step, Eurowings is planning to hire 130 full-time positions at the beginning of the summer flight schedule, as the company and the union announced on Friday.

It is mainly about flight attendants from the Lufthansa holdings Germanwings and Sun Express Germany, which were closed during the Corona crisis.

According to Verdi, around 1,300 flight attendants are losing their jobs there.

For them, group-wide career prospects have been created and at the same time their work experience is fully recognized, said Verdi negotiator Marvin Reschinsky.

Probation periods and other hurdles in the hiring process would also be removed.

The 130 positions are initially a first step and could also be filled part-time.

The contract also applies to further appointments until the end of June 2022.

Eurowings anticipates increasing demand for tourist flights.

“With the first recruitment, we are preparing for a recovery in private travel from summer.

I am delighted that we can offer flight attendants from the Lufthansa Group a new and fair perspective, ”said Frank Bauer, Head of HR and Finance, according to a statement.

Both sides had previously secured the existing jobs in the cabin and on the floor with a collective redevelopment agreement.

With a fleet of around 100 aircraft, the airline is relying on catch-up effects and fewer offers from the competition.

Competitors have left important Eurowings locations such as Düsseldorf and Stuttgart.
