Hamburg (AP) - FC St. Pauli has continued its upswing in the 2nd Bundesliga in the basement duel with SV Sandhausen.

In the home game at Millerntor on Friday evening, the Hamburg team deservedly beat the guests 2-1 (0-0) and moved up to 13th place after their fourth win from the last five games.

Daniel-Kofi Kyereh (67th minute) and Guido Burgstaller (71st) scored for the hosts, Kevin Behrens (74th) was successful for Sandhausen, who is still in 16th place for the time being.

Against the SVS, who were the weakest away team in the league, St. Pauli had a harder time than last, but at least had two good chances in the first half.

Burgstaller's Lupfer (5th) headed Alexander Rossipal off the line, while Stefanos Kapino parried Omar Marmoush's shot (43rd).

The guests were harmless before the break.

After the change, the game of patience continued for the Hanseatic League, but they were able to overcome the defensive wall of the sand houses twice and were rightly ahead.

Behrens made the game exciting again shortly afterwards with the connection goal from nowhere.

In the end, however, the Hamburgers, who were now four points ahead of the SVS, cheered.
