Mainz (dpa / lrs) - Families in the Kaiserslautern district and in the city of Ludwigshafen are the first: You can now register for the Rhineland-Palatinate family card, which offers discounts in retail, more participation in culture as well as advice and support .

When the portal "Familienkarte.rlp.de" was activated, Family Minister Anne Spiegel (Greens) said: "The family card should develop into the central navigator for families."

It should be developed into the most important address for all questions about family life.

For the two model regions at the start, the partners involved from trade, commerce, sport and culture show their offers on an online map.

There you will also find information and contacts for all stages and situations of family life in three major subject areas: advice and help, commitment and culture, and sustainable living.

"With the family card, we want to secure great offers for families and also set incentives for sustainable behavior," said Spiegel.

Access to many offers is only possible after the lockdown has ended, but registration is already worthwhile.

In the city of Ludwigshafen and the district of Kaiserslautern, according to the ministry, there are 208 cooperation partners with 265 offers at the start.

Other municipalities are to be included in the project shortly.

The family card should then be available nationwide next year.

In the initial phase, 350,000 euros will be invested in this.

Around 1.5 million euros are budgeted for the nationwide offer from 2022 onwards.
