Abdel Ati claimed that he had devised a device capable of detecting the two diseases through "remote sensing", without analyzing blood, and another device capable of "purifying blood" from viruses and converting them into proteins similar to "kofta". The Egyptian armed forces displayed Abdel Ati’s devices in their exhibitions. Military industries of their time, and promoted them in large media campaigns.

The general’s statements sparked a lot of ridicule and controversy on the sites of social media pioneers, in what experts and scholars described as a "scientific scandal."

In that meeting, he said that he decided to "freeze" the device so that he could develop it and return to a "better and easier to implement," stressing that he had reached a "development that would astonish the world."
