05 February 2021 "We are the first European country for vaccinated people, with first and second doses. Up to last night, almost 1 million people vaccinated".
This was stated by the extraordinary commissioner for the Covid emergency, Domenico Arcuri, at a press conference to take stock of the activities to combat and contain the epidemic.
"The numbers of the vaccination show that despite the unexpected cuts, often suffered, the progress of the campaign is resuming at an acceptable pace and the administrations are constantly increasing".
Arcuri added, specifying that tomorrow the first 249 thousand doses of the Astrazeneca vaccine arrive and from next week we could start administering it to Italians.

The commissioner announced that "We will continue to allocate Pfizer and Moderna to cover the population most at risk, to lower lethality. Astrazeneca will have a parallel path, it will be administered to the under 55: we will start with teachers, law enforcement, the prison staff and inmates and staff living in communities ".
