Berlin (dpa) - Bundesliga basketball team Alba Berlin narrowly missed its first victory in the Euroleague against Bayern Munich despite a long lead.

Although they were always in the lead up to nine seconds before the end, the weakened Berliners lost on Friday evening in the permanent rivals after extra time with 95: 101 (87:87, 43:33).

With the 16th loss in the 24th game of the premier class, Alba remains in the table cellar.

The best throwers from Berlin were Simone Fontecchio with 21 and Ben Lammers with 20 points.

Alba had to deal with bad luck with injuries again.

In Niels Giffey, Peyton Siva and Jayson Granger, three top performers were again missing.

Both teams needed something to find their rhythm.

It was only after almost two minutes that Lo scored the first points of the game.

After that, the guests were better at the game.

Alba started with a 9-0 run and surprisingly dominated the first quarter.

The Berliners acted very attentively and with great speed.

At the end of the first section, the lead was already 16 points (26:10).

In the second quarter the hosts got into the game better and Alba made a few mistakes.

Nevertheless, the German champions managed to keep the double-digit lead until the break.
