Villingen-Schwenningen (dpa / lsw) - The German police union has severely criticized a joint final exam of over 600 students from the Police College in the middle of the corona lockdown.

This “mass event” in the exhibition halls in Villingen-Schwenningen is “irresponsible”, said union leader Ralf Kusterer to the “Black Forest messenger” (Friday).

"I don't understand how the Prime Minister and the Interior Minister in Baden-Württemberg can allow that."

Also in the Ministry of the Interior and with the police, meetings are limited to the bare minimum.

The Police College in Villingen-Schwenningen defended the presence test.

The Corona regulation provides for exceptions to restrictions for such tests, the university told the newspaper.

The State Ministry of the Interior explained to the newspaper: "The main goal is to enable all students to complete their training on time so that the police departments and facilities receive the announced increase in staff as part of the recruitment campaign."

How is it in other universities in the country?

The Ministry of Research explains on its website that online exams can be carried out.

“The prerequisite is that the university stipulates this in its examination regulations.

Presence checks remain possible under strict infection protection requirements if they cannot be replaced by other formats and this is the responsibility of the pandemic situation. "

A spokesman for the Ministry of the Interior told the "Black Forest Messenger" that the infection protection had been fulfilled during the test in Villingen-Schwenningen.

Union leader Kusterer, on the other hand, considers it absurd that hundreds of police officers from many parts of Baden-Württemberg had to travel to the test.

"It's like a trapeze demonstration without a net," he told the newspaper.
