Aue (dpa) - Thanks to a significant increase in performance after the break, the second division soccer club FC Erzgebirge Aue scored a point against the table leader Hamburger SV.

After a 1: 3 deficit, coach Dirk Schuster's team won 3: 3 and celebrated the draw like a victory.

Jan Hochscheidt (26th), Clemens Fandrich (50th) and Florian Krüger (61st) met on Friday evening for Auer who never gave up.

Simon Terodde (14th minute, 30./Foul penalty) and David Kinsombi (22nd) scored the goals for the guests.

Schuster changed his line-up to two positions after the 3-0 defeat in Fürth.

Steve Breitkreuz and Hochscheidt joined the starting line-up for the injured central defender Florian Ballas (torn muscle fiber) and Calogero Rizzuto (bench).

The Auer had secretly hoped for a repeat of the 3-0 surprise victory from last season.

But HSV first demonstrated their playfulness in the first round and took the lead in the 14th minute with the first chance to score.

Terodde headed the ball after a remarkable volley from Bakery Jatta from close range over the line, whereby the leather would have hit the goal even without the touch of the HSV striker.

The leader of the table was not satisfied with the 1-0 lead and only followed suit a short time later.

Sonny Kittel passed back from the baseline to Kinsombi, who gave Aues goalkeeper Martin Männel no chance with a powerful shot from eleven meters and increased it to 2-0 for Hamburg.

The Schuster team seemed overwhelmed in all respects in the initial phase, but still scored a goal in the 26th minute.

Hochscheidt, who had initiated an Auer counterattack after a HSV corner kick, scored the 1: 2 after a one-two with Pascal Testroet.

The joy about it only lasted for a short time, because Terodde restored the old distance with a penalty kick after half an hour.

Previously, Kittel was fouled by Fandrich.

After the break, Hamburg's Aaron Hunt failed with a shot at the post (49th), in return the Auer came back after Jatta lost the ball.

Fandrich shortened to 2: 3 with a low shot.

The goal gave the Schuster team a boost and caused increasing uncertainty at HSV.

Krüger rewarded the increasingly courageous Auer in the 61st minute with a rotary shot with the equalizer.

In the final phase of the turbulent game, the two teams exchanged blows openly, but no goal was scored.
