"Taiwan is my hometown where I was born and raised, and the mainland is my home for my studies and development. The connection and communication between the two sides of the strait cannot be blocked by anyone or any political force." Talking about my experience in cross-strait exchanges," "Building Dreams in Wenzhou" said Xu Jinming, chairman of the Taiwan Youth Friendship Association and a Taiwanese teacher at Wenzhou University.

Xu Jinming is a native of Kaohsiung, Taiwan. When he was studying for a master's degree at National Chengchi University in Taiwan in 2013, he often participated in cross-strait academic exchanges.

"From the process of visiting the mainland and communicating with teachers and students in the mainland, I felt that the mainland has a bright future and many opportunities, so I wanted to study in the mainland to gain a deeper understanding of the mainland." In 2016, Xu Jinming entered Peking University to study for a PhD.

While studying in Beijing, Xu Jinming studied hard while actively participating in cross-strait exchange activities.

"As long as young people on both sides of the strait have exchanges, they will increase their understanding and form friendship. For example, when I was studying, I often worked with mainland classmates on topics, discussing international politics and cross-strait relations. Although the views are different, as long as they are peaceful and respect each other, Have friendly exchanges." Xu Jinming said that in addition to academic exchanges, he and his mainland students will also talk about the beautiful and delicious food on both sides of the strait. Many students will also ask him for strategies before traveling to Taiwan.

By chance, Xu Jinming came into contact with Wenzhou, Zhejiang, and never expected to forge an indissoluble bond with this coastal city in the southeast of the mainland.

"In the beginning, I was only invited as a Taiwanese youth to participate in the talent matchmaking and Taiwanese youth networking activities held in Wenzhou. Later, I found that I like Wenzhou more and more, so I set up the'Building Dreams Wenzhou' Taiwan Youth Friendship Association with like-minded people. Everyone. They will actively introduce and recommend Wenzhou in the Taiqing circle, and also introduce excellent Taiqing students and enterprises in Wenzhou who are willing to develop in Wenzhou." Xu Jinming said.

Since its establishment, the "Building Dreams in Wenzhou" Taiwan Youth Friendship Association has established branches in 9 cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Taipei, Nantou, and has become a well-known group with vitality and influence for Taiwanese youth in the mainland.

Xu Jinming said that with the support of the Taiwan Affairs Office of Wenzhou City and the Wenzhou Taiwan Youth Entrepreneurship and Employment Service Center, the Friendship Association organizes events such as Taiwanese youth networking, talent matchmaking, summer internships in Wenzhou, and entrepreneurial project negotiations. Have a deep understanding of the mainland, looking for employment and entrepreneurial opportunities in the mainland, especially Wenzhou.

"The mainland has good development prospects, a large market and many opportunities, but this does not mean that young people from Taiwan can succeed when they start their own businesses. Taiwanese youths who want to start a business in the mainland can choose the path of'visit-internship-employment-entrepreneurship' to gradually understand the mainland. The market environment and demand can achieve a smooth landing." Xu Jinming told reporters.

After the outbreak of the new crown pneumonia, as the head of the "Building Dreams in Wenzhou" Taiwan Youth Friendship Association, Xu Jinming and other Taiwan youths initiated donations to purchase masks and protective clothing, and transported these medical supplies to designated hospitals in Wuhan and Wenzhou.

"We feel the same about the epidemic in the mainland. After all, this is our second home." Xu Jinming said.

Today, Xu Jinming has become a teacher at Wenzhou University and has settled in Wenzhou.

He said that he finally chose Wenzhou for employment and development. On the one hand, Wenzhou and Taiwan are geographically similar, and the climate, diet, and cultural customs are very similar. The flight time from Taipei to Wenzhou is less than one hour; on the other hand, Wenzhou It has made great efforts in attracting talents, and has actively implemented the affordable Taiwan policy.

"Take Wenzhou colleges and universities as an example. If Taiwanese teachers come to apply for employment, their academic achievements in Taiwan can be included in the evaluation system. The school will provide teacher dormitories and try to solve the problem of enrolling Taiwanese teachers' children."

In addition, Wenzhou has also introduced 24-hour processing or replacement of Taiwan compatriots’ permits, green channel for Taiwan compatriots’ driver’s licenses, and arranging free medical examinations for Taiwan compatriots once a year. Various supporting measures have given Taiwan compatriots a strong sense of integration.

As for issues that Taiwanese teachers are concerned about, such as handling five social insurances and one housing fund, and professional title evaluation, the Taiwan Affairs Office of Wenzhou City, in conjunction with relevant departments, is currently stepping up discussions on implementation rules.
