Erfurt (dpa / th) - In Thuringia, the number of sick notes in the Corona year 2020 has fallen slightly according to an evaluation by the Techniker Krankenkasse (TK).

Statistically speaking, each of the more than 54,000 TK-insured workers in Thuringia were on sick leave for 17.8 days last year, the health insurance company announced on Thursday.

This is a decrease of 1.4 percent compared to 2019.

According to the information, the most common reason for sick leave was mental illness - with an average of around three days.

In 2020, insured persons stayed at home 4.3 percent more often than in the previous year because of mental and behavioral disorders.

Back pain and respiratory diseases were also frequent diagnoses of inability to work.

Sick leave due to Covid 19 diagnoses, on the other hand, would have made up only a very small part of the sick leave in 2020 with statistically 0.04 days.

One of the reasons for this could be that no health insurance certificates are issued for the most severely affected group of people, the elderly.

The number of infectious diseases also fell, according to the information.

Accordingly, there were three times fewer norovirus and 60 percent fewer cases of flu infections in Thuringia last year.

The hygiene and distance rules during the corona pandemic are a key reason for the decline, it said.
