Exit Landscapers

  • As part of Euratlantique, the Bordeaux quays should be extended to the future Simone-Veil bridge.

  • Today roadways, the quays are promised to become a place of walk, which will make a large place for the gentle circulation (cycling, walking etc.).

  • The cost of the redevelopment is around 20 million euros.

Gentle circulation on the banks planted with trees is what the Euratlantique project promises between the future Simone-Veil bridge and the end of the Saint-Michel sports park located at the outlet of the Saint-Jean bridge, left bank in Bordeaux .

This redevelopment project costing 19.6 million euros has just been launched and should extend "the so-called bridge-to-bridge promenade", specifies the developer in a press release.

Today, the boulevard des Frères Moga at the southern entrance to the Bordeaux metropolis is a rather gray expressway and the developer explains that from this summer the work will be launched to transform it into a “promenade de la Ribeira”.

Over 1.5 km, between the Saint-Jean bridge and the Simone-Veil bridge, almost 3,000 plantations including 800 trees will be installed.

Designed as a place to stroll, it will be supplemented by equipment such as shade houses, picnic tables, a sports field, table tennis equipment, sports apparatus, etc.

The 2x2 lanes will become "an avenue in the city center"

No more car.

A high-level service bus line (BHNS) connecting Saint-Aubin du Médoc to Floirac, via Saint-Jean station and the Simone-Veil bridge, will run on the Paludate quay.

And, the existing 2x2 automobile lanes will be developed "in downtown avenue with a non-rectilinear layout, tree plantations and parking spaces on either side of the road to help limit speed", specifies the EPA in its press release.

Four pedestrian openings will connect this new promenade to the Belcier and Ars districts and to the Corto-Maltese square.

Finally, an “express” bicycle lane like the one found further north on the quays (from the sports park to the Chaban-Delmas bridge) will also be installed.

Ultimately, this development of the banks should be extended on Bègles to the François-Mitterrand bridge.
