Dortmund (dpa / lnw) - With corona-related distance learning, according to a survey, educational inequality is worsening.

This is the result of an online survey published on Thursday by the state parents' conference LEK NRW of around 22,000 mothers and fathers from North Rhine-Westphalia on homeschooling.

When it comes to digital equipment, the study sees considerable differences among the school types: While almost 60 percent of high schools made digital devices such as tablets available to their students, it was only around 30 percent in elementary schools, secondary schools or high schools, and 44 percent in comprehensive schools.

Across all school types, one in four pupils (27 percent) have less than once a week or even never contact with the teacher.

The LEK NRW emphasized that pupils from elementary, special, secondary and secondary schools often need special support with their tasks.

But around a third of primary school students receive no educational support at all.

That is alarming.

There are additional online offers especially for older students in secondary school. “The younger the learners and the more they need support, the less they benefit from it,” said the online offerings.
