LFI deputy Mathilde Panot was treated as a "fishmonger" by LREM deputy Pierre Henriet, sparking strong criticism.

The elected representative apologized, while the President of the Assembly Richard Ferrand "strongly condemned" these remarks.

The National Assembly has not finished with sexism.

The deputy LFI Mathilde Panot was treated Tuesday evening of "fishmonger" by her colleague LREM Pierre Henriet, in full hemicycle.

These remarks provoked strong reactions Thursday.

The President of the National Assembly, Richard Ferrand (LREM), "strongly condemned" in a press release.

"There is no place for sexism in our society, even less in the expression of an elected representative of the Republic, within the hemicycle", underlined the presidency of the Assembly.

"Decided not to let anything go", Richard Ferrand "will discuss this subject at the next conference of presidents" next Tuesday, he said.

“The madwoman”, “The fishmonger”…

Can't we hear anything?

Really ?

For me and for all the others, victims of the filthy sexism of some, I tell you: I will not let it go.

I expect an immediate reaction from the President of the National Assembly.

Pierre Henriet apologizes but refutes any sexism

Mathilde Panot had demanded "apologies" and "sanctions" after this "sexist insult", attributed to the LREM deputy of Vendée Pierre Henriet and audible in the video of the debates on Tuesday evening.

Pierre Henriet apologized on Twitter, however, refuting any sexist intention in his remarks.

"Mathilde Panot spends her time shouting in the rostrum and cutting the floor. I was exasperated and my words are in no way an insult even less sexist, it is an expression to denounce her behavior as I also do for his male colleagues, "he said.

"If she feels wrongly insulted, I beg her to excuse me. By the way, I thank her rebellious comrades for the hundreds of insults with which they cover me - on what side is contempt?", A- he completed.

She claims to have also been called "crazy"

Mathilde Panot adds that another insult was thrown at her, "the madwoman", by a "LREM deputy" and asks for "immediate identification of the author" of these remarks, also audible in the video of the debates.

"This is not a personal question. It is our institution that must not let this go. There is too much sexism in the National Assembly," said LFI deputy to AFP.

"I recall that there had been bleating during a speech by the deputy Alice Thourot (LREM) or that my colleagues Clémentine Autain (LFI) and Elsa Faucillon (PCF) had been treated as 'little assholes' by the deputy Meyer Habib (UDI) ", underlined the elected representative of Val-de-Marne.
