Hamburg (dpa) - Because of the winter weather, the planned full closure of Autobahn 7 in Hamburg has been canceled this weekend.

"The risk that the A7 will not be available to traffic on Monday in a non-roadworthy condition is too great due to the adverse weather conditions," said Autobahn GmbH Nord on Thursday.

A new date for the final work on the complete commissioning of the Stellingen noise protection tunnel is still being agreed.

If the weather is better then, according to dpa information, the full closure should be rescheduled from February 26th to March 1st.

The A7 had to be closed on Friday evening until Monday morning between Hamburg-Volkspark and -Eidelstedt.

The plan was to establish the final traffic routing through the two nearly 900 meter long tunnel tubes.

Marking work in particular is not possible in snowfall and frost, said a spokeswoman for Autobahn GmbH.

All traffic has been rolling through the new west tube since shortly before Christmas, while the east tube, which was completed in April 2019, is being converted.

The Stellingen driveway to the north (Flensburg / Kiel / Heide) remains closed for the time being.
