February 04, 2021 An activist, known for his opposition to the Shiite Hezbollah movement, was found dead in his car in southern Lebanon.

This was reported by an exponent of the security forces under anonymity.

The family hadn't heard from Lokman Slim since last night: he had gone south to visit a friend and disappeared after driving back to Beirut.

"He was found dead in the car, with a bullet in the head," the source said.

To raise the alarm for Slim's disappearance was his sister, Rasha al-Ameer, who posted a message on Twitter during the night: "My brother left Niha al-Janoub six hours earlier to return to Beirut and he is not still returned ". "He doesn't answer the phone and there is no trace of him in the hospitals," the woman added. Alarm raised by Makram Rabah, professor at American University and friend of the politician. "Lokman is a known voice against Hezbollah and has disappeared in the region they control and this is a technique they have used in the past", he told al-Arabiya TV, underlining in a tweet that he held "responsible the parties that control the area and the Lebanese state for its security and a quick return ".
