Hunter Biden, son of the new President of the United States Joe Biden, will publish his autobiography on April 6, in which he discusses his fight against various addictions, the publishing house Simon & Schuster announced Thursday.

The 51-year-old youngest son of Joe Biden, who is told in "Beautiful Things", published by the subsidiary of Simon & Schuster Gallery Books, is a complex character, with a tortuous course, on a personal level as professional.

He struggled for decades with alcoholism, going through several drug rehabs.

This lawyer by training has also been a user of hard drugs, mainly cocaine.

He says he has now quit alcohol and drugs.

His setbacks regularly hit the headlines and he was often seen as a potential handicap to his father's political career.

Recently, he was criticized for accepting a mandate as a director of the Ukrainian gas group Burisma while Joe Biden was vice-president and invested in the Ukrainian dossier.

Hunter Biden has also been accused of using his father's image to do business in China, with no tangible evidence of personal gain.

Over the years, Hunter Biden has become one of the favorite targets of former President Donald Trump and his supporters.

Last December, the president's son revealed he was the subject of a federal investigation into possible tax crimes.

Despite these adventures, Joe Biden has always shown him unfailing support.

"I come from a family marked by tragedy and carried by an exceptional, unwavering love," wrote Hunter Biden in his book, according to an excerpt in a Simon & Schuster release.

Motherless at two years after a serious car accident that also claimed the life of his younger sister, Hunter Biden also lost his older brother Beau, who died of a brain tumor in 2015.
