Nantes Talma auction

"It's been a long time since we had seen so many people," appreciates Virginie Bertrand, auctioneer of Nantes Talma auctions.

The auction house, located in the Saint-Donatien district, offered this Thursday afternoon some fifty rather exceptional lots since they belonged to the emblematic bar-terrace of the Tour Bretagne, the Nid.

Definitively closed since June due to heavy work on the tower, the Nest was forced to give up most of its decoration and its astonishing furniture designed by the artist Jean Jullien.

The sale generated "a lot of interest" and prices rose well above estimates.

The mouthpiece sold for 750 euros

A set of two armchairs and a coffee table in the shape of eggs went for 1,950 euros (excluding costs).

The illustrated posters sold for over 300 euros on average.

The orange beak of the huge bird that hugged the contours of the sea bass was purchased at a price of 750 euros (excluding fees).

The pair of eyes of this same bird was sold for 480 euros.

In total, all the lots were dispersed for an amount of 27,570 euros (excluding costs), indicates the auction house.

“It was a great sale,” comments Virginie Bertrand.

Many people wanted to take a souvenir from this place.

So there will be disappointments.

"

Opened in 2012 on the 32nd and last floor of the Tour Bretagne, the Nest had recorded nearly 3 million visits.
