The change will be implemented with the help of a ten-point program which, among other things, means a ban on the sale of petrol and diesel cars, a quadrupling of offshore wine energy and small-scale nuclear power plants.

The investments are estimated to lead to 250,000 new jobs.

Coal power's share of energy production in the UK has already fallen from 40% to 1.5%.

But the environmental organization Greenpeace believes that more must be done.
