Fulda (dpa / lhe) - After several fires on caravans, a 28-year-old has been answerable to the Fulda district court since Thursday for attempted arson murder.

The public prosecutor's office accuses the man from Eckernförde (Schleswig-Holstein) of having infected a permanently installed caravan with a grill lighter on a campsite in Hosenfeld (Fulda district) in May 2016.

A permanent camper slept in the car.

Just because a neighbor discovered the flames in time, no one was injured, it said.

In a second fire in June 2016, the defendant allegedly set fire to two other caravans, a minibus, a wheel loader and a riding lawn mower.

The public prosecutor's office estimates the damage at around 50,000 euros.

The defendant admitted the allegations through his defense lawyer, but is silent on the details of the circumstances and does not provide any information about himself.

So the court relies on evidence and witnesses.

In his testimony, the 73-year-old injured party reported that the defendant had lived on the campsite since April 2016.

At the first meeting, the young man had thrown a catalog at him for no reason.

Once he heard that the defendant had rioted in the wash house.

After the fire, he was afraid he could not sleep for months.

The defendant did not appear for a trial scheduled for September 2020.

The police then went looking for him.

He was arrested and has been in custody ever since.

A judgment is expected at the end of March.
