It was on January 23 that the ambulance crashed during an ongoing emergency near Sävast south of Boden.

The staff immediately alerted SOS to be relieved but no other resource was available.

The ambulance, which was on its way to Sunderby Hospital in Luleå, was instead allowed to crawl the remaining distance.

The barely two remaining miles went only at 30 kilometers per hour.

"It is basically a car and can break"

Northern media reports that it was the ambulance's air suspension that failed.

- We have repaired the car of course, but have not had time to immerse ourselves in the incident.

It is a passenger car basically and can break.

And then you have to do what you can to prevent it from happening again, says Robin Holmgren, unit manager at the ambulance in Boden, to NSD.

The vehicle had only been in operation for a couple of years and in the deviation report the staff states that the accident led to the patient receiving "significantly delayed definitive care".
