Vechta (dpa / lni) - Problems with the allocation of vaccination appointments in the vaccination center of the district of Vechta in Lohne are possibly due to fake appointment confirmations.

Since Tuesday, around 40 people had come to the vaccination center with a supposedly official appointment confirmation, as the district announced.

However, those willing to vaccinate were not listed in the country's IT system, via which the appointments are distributed centrally.

Initially, the district assumed a possible technical breakdown.

After consulting the country and the software provider, it turned out that the confirmations and the QR codes of the persons concerned had not been created by the country's IT system.

Therefore, according to the district, it should now be checked whether there may be fake confirmations in circulation.

A technical cause is still being examined.

As the district announced on Thursday, there are also attempts by strangers in the district to deceive citizens by phone with falsified appointments for corona vaccinations.

"The citizens who wanted to be vaccinated with these documents cannot be blamed," said District Administrator Herbert Winkel (CDU) according to a statement.

“You relied on your registration to go smoothly and that you had an official document in your hands.

We are extremely sorry that some people had to be turned away as a result. "

The administration now wants to clarify how this came about.
