Frechen (dpa / lnw) - A 74-year-old man was killed in an apartment fire in Frechen (Rhein-Erft district).
As the police announced on Thursday, the fire in a row house was reported on Wednesday afternoon by a resident (41) who was able to save himself.
The help of the fire brigade came too late for the 74-year-old in the ground floor apartment, his wife (62) was seriously injured and was rescued from the apartment and went to the hospital.
The cause of the fire is now being investigated by investigators from the criminal investigation department.
