Leipzig (dpa / sn) - On the Fichtelberg, strong squalls are to be expected on Thursday night.
The German Weather Service (DWD) warned on Wednesday evening of hurricane-like gusts at a speed of up to 115 kilometers per hour in locations over 1000 meters in the Ore Mountains.
The warning applies from 9 p.m. to 8 a.m. Thursday morning.
Trees could be uprooted and roofs damaged, it said.
The DWD advises keeping a distance from buildings, scaffolding and high-voltage lines.
In the lower elevations of Saxony, the meteorologists reckoned with wind forces between 50 and 70 kilometers per hour for the night.
