Bad Langensalza (dpa) - The handball players of the Thuringian HC achieved a surprise victory in the Bundesliga.

Against the table runner-up SG BBM Bietigheim, who had to do without three top performers after a corona-related forced break, the team of coach Herbert Müller prevailed on Wednesday evening in the home hall with 33:30 (17:16).

Emma Ekenman Fernis became the Thuringian women’s best thrower with eight goals.

National player Kim Naidzinavicius scored twelve times for the guests.

Despite its success, the THC remains in sixth place with 21:13 points.

Both teams started offensive and furious, after ten minutes there were already 14 goals (8: 6).

Also in the further course the Thuringians maintained a narrow lead, but without being able to break away decisively.

One and a half minutes before the end, Bietigheim reduced it again to 30:31, but then Marketa Jerabkova and Beate Scheffknecht cleared the last doubts about victory with their goals.
