Lingen (dpa / lni) - A Dutch tanker collided with a canal bridge on the Dortmund-Ems canal near Lingen on Wednesday.

People were not injured, and no operating or hazardous materials leaked, as a police spokesman announced.

The bridge, which was initially closed after the accident, was apparently not damaged.

The three crew members got away with the horror.

The property damage to the ship amounts to around 100,000 euros.

The 60-meter-long ship had previously been unloaded in an oil refinery.

As the journey continued south, the wheelhouse collided with the canal bridge in the Altenlingen district because, according to initial findings, the wheelhouse had not been lowered sufficiently.

There were no indications of a technical defect.

The ship must now be checked by an expert.

As long as the journey is prohibited, it was said by the police.

Helpers recovered a dinghy that had fallen from the ship and debris.
