Dresden (dpa / sn) - The Saxon state parliament wants to decide on Wednesday (from 10.00), among other things, on a reform of the property tax.

A draft law was unceremoniously removed from the parliamentary agenda in December.

The background to this was the objections of a constitutional lawyer who considered a passage on undeveloped land to be inconsistent with the constitution.

The reason for the new regulation of property tax is a ruling by the Federal Constitutional Court in April 2018. Accordingly, the previous unit values that have remained unchanged for decades must be replaced by new assessment bases from 2025.

The federal states could make their own regulations.

Saxony makes use of this.

There was criticism from business.

According to the chambers of industry and commerce, the Saxon model brings substantial increases in property tax for parts of the commercial economy.

Other topics in the state parliament include the change to the Saxon Nature Conservation Act, media education and the demand by the left to set up a round table on the corona pandemic.

The morning session is also about early childhood education.
