Bestensee (dpa) - The Netzhoppers KW-Bestensee have slightly improved their starting position in the fight for the playoffs in the volleyball Bundesliga.

The cup finalist from Brandenburg won his home game against the Grizzlys Giesen on Wednesday with 3: 2 (20:25, 23:25, 25:23, 25:23, 16:14) and made up for a 2-0 set deficit.

Due to the two lost sentences, the guests from Lower Saxony took one of the three points with them.

Netzhoppers trainer Christophehaben was able to fall back on his previously injured top performers Byron Keturakis and Dirk Westphal.

A point from setter Keturakis gave the hosts a five-point advantage in the first round at 14: 9.

But when the score was 18:14, the team suddenly lost control of the game.

This was followed by a bitter 2:11 point series to lose a set.

After the 0-2 set deficit, the hosts drew hope again when a block from Theo Timmermann and Yannick Goralik in the third round gave them a 21:18 lead and the team could not take the set win afterwards.

The Netzhoppers continued to be defensive.

With a score of 20:20, two aces by middle blocker James Weirt provided a two-point lead in the fourth section, which the team used to win the set.

In the tie-break, both teams continued to meet at eye level.

The third match point was ultimately used by James Jackson to win for the Netzhoppers.
