Wiesbaden / Gießen (dpa / lhe) - restaurants and cafes have been closed for months due to the corona pandemic - nevertheless, some innkeepers are looking ahead with confidence.

"I am sure that the whole industry will still be there in April, with small exceptions," says Oliver Dürr from Wiesbaden, landlord of the Amadeus restaurant.

The crisis and the first lockdown in March were also a shock for him.

But then the emergency aid flowed and “from then on we got through relatively well”.

Other restaurateurs have broken new ground in the pandemic: In Gießen, for example, Shadi Souri, owner of the “Pizza Cloud” restaurant, and his team are now baking frozen pizza that is sold in supermarkets in the region.

There are many businesses that can make ends meet, according to the Dehoga restaurant association in Hessen.

But many innkeepers are currently "mad" because they are in fact under a professional ban for months.
