Berlin (dpa) - Coach Pal Dardai from Bundesliga soccer club Hertha BSC referred to the lack of match practice of the 2014 world champion with a view to the high expectations of newcomer Sami Khedira.

"If he has the opportunity to play, he has to do a lot as an organizer," said Dardai on Wednesday at a press conference on the home game against leaders Bayern Munich.

Khedira should make his debut in the Hertha dress in the game on Friday evening (8.30 p.m. / DAZN) in the Berlin Olympic Stadium.

Dardai reported that Khedira did a good job in training on Tuesday.

"But before we score an own goal and he gets muscular problems from overload because he has to go from zero to 100, we have to think about it," said the Hertha coach: "Sami has no match practice."

Khedira only played one Cup game for Juve last year.

This season he was not used at the Italian record champions.

"The plan was that I throw him in immediately because match practice is important," said Dardai: "Maybe we will sacrifice a half in the so-called friendly game mode."

The travel and the appointments due to the transfer on the last possible day of the change window last Monday was not easy for Khedira either.

The 33-year-old native of Swabia moved from VfB Stuttgart to Real Madrid in the summer of 2010.

Five years later the path led him to Juventus Turin.

In Berlin, he should first help Hertha in the fight against relegation.

Hertha is in 15th place in the table before the duel with Bayern.

The first game under returnees Dardai was lost 3-1 at Eintracht Frankfurt.
