Berlin (dpa) - The Eisbären Berlin have also won their seventh home game of the current season and thus consolidated their second place in the table in the northern group of the German Ice Hockey League.

On Wednesday evening, the capital city won against pursuers Düsseldorfer EG 4: 2 (1: 1, 1: 0, 2: 1) because they used their counter-chances efficiently.

Kris Foucault contributed two goals to the success, and Leonhard Pföderl and Matt White scored.

In front of empty stands in the arena at Ostbahnhof, the hosts took the lead thanks to a goal from Foucault.

After a bad pass by the guests, the Canadian pushed the puck over the line from close range.

But the polar bears again afforded too many time penalties in the first third: One of them was used by Düsseldorf's Nicholas Jensen, who scored in the power play to equalize.

In the second part of the game, which was marked by many negligence on both sides, the home side were able to cheer again: Pföderl successfully completed a nice counterattack against Lukas Reichel and Marcel Noebels.

Foucault extended the lead in the final third with his second goal.

The guests came back through a goal from Matthew Carey, but White finally ensured the Berlin success shortly before the end of the game.
